ANTI-TERRORISM POLICY

INTRODUCTION

“WORKS AND FAITH MISSION, WFM” renounces all forms of terrorism and will never knowingly support, tolerate or encourage terrorism or the activities of those who embrace terrorism and will do everything possible to ensure that their resources are not used to facilitate terrorist activities.

This policy sets out our WORKS AND FAITH MISSION (WFM) organization's response to the risk of dealing with individuals and organizations associated with terrorism. WFM is committed to complying with government counter-terrorism requirements.

As WFM does not regularly send funds overseas, the risk of dealing with terrorist organizations is reduced. Nevertheless, it is important that the requirements of this policy are adhered to whenever funds are to be sent overseas.

POLICIES
  1. WFM acknowledges that Burundi government law prohibits dealing with terrorist organizations and/or prohibited persons or entities. It will at all times adopt measures to facilitate compliance with this legislation,
  2. WFM will confirm the identity, credentials and good reputation of the persons or organizations it supports and will verify that these persons or organizations are not on the lists of terrorist organizations and individuals held by the Government of Burundi.
  3. WFM will not knowingly transfer funds to known or suspected terrorist organizations or individuals.
  4. WFM will report to the competent national authority, any known or suspected terrorist link.
ANTI-TERRORISM PROCEDURES RESPONSIBILITY

The WFM Executive Committee is committed to respect Burundian counter-terrorism legislation in order to avoid dealing with individuals and organizations associated with terrorism. The Chairman of the Executive Committee will be responsible for ensuring that WFM members, WFM employees and volunteers are reminded of the following procedures at least once a year to minimize the risk of dealing with terrorist organizations.

PROCEDURES
  1. Members of WFM, the WFM staff and volunteers should know the identity, credentials and reputation of their partners and beneficiary organizations (i.e. what they do, where they operate, who the decision makers and employees are) relationship with terrorists;
  2. Care will be taken to only transmit WFM funds using reputable banks and other financial institutions for this purpose;
  3. before funding an organization, details of funded entities and their officials will be checked against lists of terrorist and prohibited organizations of the Burundian government. The relevant list can be obtained. When the beneficiary organizations or individuals appear on either of these lists, the flow of funds will cease and the National Anti-Terrorism Brigade will be notified immediately;
  4. To the extent possible, all partner departments will be made aware of the WFM's obligations under Burundian law and will commit to adopt similar measures with respect to funds from Burundian sources. WFM will immediately withdraw all support, including the provision of resources, if it has reason to believe that a ministry has violated the requirements of this policy.
